Stephen A. Smith called up NBA office to get Russell Westbrook suspended for ‘appalling’ behavior in Mavericks game
Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Russell Westbrook was the center of attraction on social media following his performance during Game 3 of the Dallas Mavericks-Los Angeles Clippers clash at the American Airlines Center. He received an ejection during the game, prompting Stephen A. Smith to advocate publicly for his suspension.

Stephen A. Smith made this outcry known during an episode of ESPN’s pregame show during the weekend and then wondered why he wasn’t suspended when the LA Clippers played against the Mavs last night.

Russell Westbrook deserved to be suspended for today's game. I felt so serious about this I called the league office. I said I need an explanation. Stephen A. Smith via ESPN

Russell Westbrook participated in Game 4 of the series, albeit from the bench, and his appearance on the team irked Stephen A. Smith enough to get him talking. Westbrook ended the game with five points, three rebounds, and one assist.

The Mavs had won game three after a strong performance from Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. However, they relinquished the upper hand by losing Game 4 116-113 despite Kai’s 40-point performance and Doncic’s triple-double of 29 points and ten rebounds and assists.

What did Russell Westbrook do in Game Three of the playoff series?

Russell Westbrook, during Game Three of their series, had an altercation with Dallas Mavericks’ Luka Doncic, where he grabbed his arm and flung him to one side. This then led to an escalation that involved players from both teams.

Doncic then approached Westbrook after the incident, and in the process, PJ Washington got involved and shoved Westbrook from behind. This led to a much bigger scuffle, resulting in Westbrook’s eventual ejection.

Westbrook was also involved in a series of dangerous plays during the game, and the nature of this particular tussle led the sometimes controversial analyst Stephen A. Smith to call for the suspension and even claim to directly call the league authorities.

This season, Russell Westbrook has been able to cope with his bit-part role with the LA Clippers. He had a great Game 1, ending the game with 13 points, four rebounds, and four assists.
