Russian tennis’ rising star Mirra Andreeva will be turning 17 on Monday. While she would have her plans for it, Andreeva is stuck competing at the Madrid Open. Nevertheless, she is still excited and has also thought of the perfect birthday gift for her. When she was asked about what should be the best gift for her, Andreeva straightaway said a win.

As the Russian ace will be competing in the fourth round on her birthday, Andreeva wants to gifter herself a win and a quarterfinal qualification at the WTA 1000 event. She also revealed that her mother has already bought a gift for her and she is excited about it.

Andreeva said that she noticed a big spend on her credit card and guessed that it was for a birthday gift from her mom. The birthday girl expressed her excitement about it as she pondered what could be in the box.

The perfect gift for me would be a victory. So I’ll try to do everything for that. My mom already bought me something. Yesterday I thought she spent some money on our credit card. So I’m super excited to see what she got me Mirra Andreeva said.

Mirra Andreeva stuns Marketa Vondrousova to enter pre-quarterfinals

While Mirra Andreeva prepares herself to gift a big win on her birthday, the Russian tennis rising star pulled off another major upset as she beat reigning Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova in the third round of the WTA 1000 tournament. She beat the Czech star in straight sets.

As Andreeva faced a stern challenge in the form of Vondrousova as she hoped to put on another top-tier performance in Madrid, the Russian youngster stunned everyone. Andreeva pulled off the second Top 10 win of her career as she beat Vondrousova 7-5, 6-1.

It is worth mentioning that as a wild card last year in Madrid, Andreeva romped into the Round of 16 in her breakthrough event ranked No.194. Since then, Andreeva has skyrocketed into the Top 50, peaking at No.33, and was named last season’s WTA Newcomer of the Year . She hopes to go a step further this year as she faces Jasmine Paolini in the fourth round.
